Thursday night maintenance window

The following service will be affected during this week's Thursday night IT maintenance window starting at 10 p.m. and lasting until 2 a.m.:

  • Network File Storage -- All Network File Storage services, including personal network file storage (S: drive), department volumes (Y: drive), non-Documentum web pages, research volumes and roaming profiles will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes during the maintenance window.
  • Windows/Linux patching -- Windows and Linux servers will be down for approximately 30 minutes for monthly updating.

Please note: The IT maintenance window occurs every Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. You should expect one or more IT services to be unavailable during this weekly time slot.

Thursday night maintenance window – July 17

The IT weekly maintenance window will occur Thursday, July 17, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The following services will be affected during this timeframe:

• IP phone voicemail
The Unity voicemail system (for customers with phones connected to the Internet) will be moved to the mst.edu domain as a part of campus rebranding. Voicemail will be unavailable during the entire maintenance window (10 p.m. to 2 a.m.)

• Linux and Windows systems
Monthly windows patching will take place. Linux and Windows servers will be unavailable for up to 30 minutes.

This is a regularly scheduled maintenance window that occurs every Thursday evening. An announcement explaining which, if any, services will be affected during the maintenance window will be posted at least 24 hours in advance each week on IT Press.

Reboot May Be Required for Mac OS X, Linux Customers on December 18

On Tuesday, Dec. 18, UMR IT will be distributing critical security updates on all IT-supported Macintosh OS X and Linux-based machines with a campus standard install. These updates will improve the security of the Apple Macintosh OS X and Linux operating systems.

Customers who use IT-installed computers (faculty, staff, CLC computers, etc.) may be prompted to reboot their computers during the day on Tuesday, Dec. 18. The affected computers will automatically reboot themselves if no one is logged in. Machines that have not been rebooted by Friday, Dec. 21 will do so automatically.
