Reminder: Weekly maintenance window

We will be seeing an interruption of services during this timeframe on Thursday, July 2. Blackboard outage on Sunday, June 28

Blackboard will be unavailable this Sunday, June 28, from 7:00am to 9:00am. The outage is due to maintenance being performed on network firewall software.

You may experience delays when launching Outlook

Due to a recent Microsoft update scheduled to install this Tuesday (June 16), some customers will experience varying delays when opening Microsoft Outlook. Outlook will present a dialog box that reads, 'Preparing Outlook for first use.' during this delay.

This issue should be a one-time event, which will occur the first time Outlook is opened after your computer has installed the most recent round of Microsoft updates. You should be able to use Miner Mail (http://minermail.mst.edu) during the delay to access your university email and calendars.

Monthly Windows patching

Windows servers will be down for approximately 30 minutes for monthly updating on Thursday, June 18, between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Please note: The IT maintenance window occurs every Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. You should expect one or more IT services to be unavailable during this weekly time slot.

Student Account Maintenance

Missouri S&T IT will perform routine computer maintenance on July 8, 2009. This process will affect students who are no longer associated with Missouri S&T prior to Spring 2008, who are not taking classes or who have graduated. Students who have enrolled since Spring Semester 2008 are not subject to this maintenance.

All accounts subject to this maintenance will be sent e-mail notifications through their Missouri S&T e-mail account, beginning on June 11. Anyone who is planning on re-enrolling for the Fall 2009 Semester but has not done so at this time will need to contact the Help Desk.

Students accounts no longer in active status will return to the UM System pool to allow the student continued access to Joe'SS. E-mail and local network file storage associated with the account will not be retained.

Blackboard maintenance on June 12: Previous semesters' Blackboard courses no longer available to students

On the evening of June 12, courses in Blackboard from Spring Semester 2009 will become unavailable to students. If they choose, instructors will be able to make courses available again on a course-by-course basis by using the course control panel.

Applications unavailable

Due to maintenance being performed during a normal change window, most itweb applications will be unavailable for about three hours, between 8:00am and 12:00pm, this Saturday, June 13.

Exchange mailboxes unavailable tonight

Exchange mailboxes for about 10% of the campus population will be unavailable tonight during the normal maintenance window, which lasts from 10:00pm until 2:00am.

Blackboard maintenance on Friday, June 12

Blackboard will be unavailable between 5:30pm and 10:00pm on Friday, June 12, during the regularly scheduled maintenance window. System administrators will be applying patches during this outage.

Email outage this afternoon

The Exchange email servers were down from 1:17 until 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. After further investigation, IT was able to bring Exchange back online and email service was restored for all customers by 2:35 p.m. IT will follow up with our vendors (Equallogic, Microsoft) to isolate the issue and prevent it from occurring again.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Network service interruptions

Due to work being performed on Monday, May 18, between 10:00pm and 6:00am, there will be a very brief interruption of network services, which should last no more than a few seconds.

There will be a longer interruption, beginning at 11:00pm, in Toomey Hall. This interruption should last about a half hour.

Network maintenance on Tuesday, April 28

On Tuesday, April 28, between 12:00am and 6:00am, IT will be performing maintenance on the wireless network. There may be a small outage, lasting about a minute, during this maintenance.

ICN experiencing slowness

The Inter-Campus Networkthat connects the UM System campuses is currently experiencing sluggishness from high CPU utilization. This has resulted in intermittent slowdowns on the Missouri S&T Internet connection. MOREnet in Columbia is currently working to fix the problem.

This issue should not affect access to Missouri S&T-hosted sites.
