After March 24, customers who use smart phones to access their university email will need to reconfigure their phones’ email settings.

Here, we’ve provided general instructions for customers who use Windows Mobile, but the procedure for resetting the email settings may vary widely from model-to-model.

General instructions for updating phones running Windows Mobile

1. Select Start > Programs > ActiveSync.
2. Open ActiveSync and delete the Exchange Mailbox by selecting Menu > Options >Menu > Delete.
3. Choose Setup device to sync with it.
4. For the Server field, enter minermail.mst.edu .
5. Enter your username and password.
6. Make sure the User Domain* field is updated to: MST-USERS.

(*Please note: A hard reset must be performed on some models to change the Exchange user domain setting. Please refer to your device’s instruction manual for details about hard resets.)

7. Check Save password because that will allow your phone to auto-sync.
8. All four items should be checked: tasks, calendar, contacts and email.
9. Select Finish..
10. After selecting Finish, your phone should sync with your email, calendars task lists and address book. You may need to select Sync a couple of times just to make sure it captures all your information.

5. Select Edit.
6. Fill in the following fields:
Account Name: (remains the same-no need to change)
Mail Service: Exchange ActiveSync (this remains the same)
7. Tap Next.
8. Enter your user name and password just like you are signing onto your computer, then tap Next.
9. Enter information into the following fields:
Email address: youremailusername@mst.edu
Mail Server: minermail.mst.edu
10. Tap Next.
11. Tap Test Settings (it may ask you to connect to the Internet -- tap Yes).
12. You should receive a Success! message. If you receive an error, back up and make sure you have entered everything correctly.

If you have questions about this issue or are unable to connect your smart phone to your university email account, please visit the IT Walk-In Center on the first floor of the library or call the IT HELP DESK at 573-341-HELP.
